Jackie Robinson with the Montreal Royals

This Week in Baseball: 06-29-2020

Sheryl Ring – Beyond the Box Score: Major League Baseball is an organization that needs to change with the times. MLB loves to trot out Jackie Robinson as a symbol of their progressive leanings, but they have turned Robinson into nothing more than eyewash. The reality of the organization is that they remain deeply racist […]

Marc Normandin – Baseball Prospectus ($): Good faith negotiating is an interesting concept though it’s one that is only ever trotted out when the larger party with more power feels as if they were somehow wronged. Major League Baseball accusing the Major League Baseball Players’ Association or negotiating in bad faith is hilarious. For the […]

This Week in Baseball: 06-15-2020

Gordon Wittenmyer – Chicago Sun-Times: The Ricketts family can’t stop putting themselves into hot water. The solution for the Chicago Cubs’ owners is simple, stop being racist. Time and again they are simply unable to stop letting their racist colors fly. Whether it’s father Joe’s litany of racist emails or son Pete’s “you people” comments, […]

Noah Frank – Baseball Prospectus ($): The secret has always been that the way the Oakland Athletics became a winning franchise in the Moneyball era was bad for baseball. We ignored that though, for plenty of reasons. It was fun to tie in our research with a front office more willing to consider said research, […]

Rob Manfred is talking so he must be lying

This Week in Baseball: 06-01-2020

Michael Baumann – The Ringer: The week started off innocently enough with a continued push by Major League Baseball executives and owners to get a season underway. Except it wasn’t all that innocent, the plan was nefarious in fact. What MLB had put forth was a plan that scientists couldn’t endorse and no one outside […]

Moinelo has really worked on his breaking pitches the past two years and has turned himself into one of the best relievers on the planet.

LMP finals, Hermosillo up 3 games to 1, top 8th, 3-3 game, runners on 1st & 3rd, one of Hermosillo's best hitters up. Yadiel Hernández tries to steal 2nd, thrown out by the pitcher.

Dumb as can be, but I love it. The sort of "action moment" sorely lacking from today's MLB.

Wall St hedge funds have been bailed out so many times since 2008 with taxpayer money that we basically already own them and if we want to troll them out of existence then so be it
